DIRECTOR – OFFICE OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY
The City of Portland is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, skilled individual to join the team in the Housing and Economic Development Department. This individual would lead the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) Division within the Department. OEO was created in 2017 to convene and leverage public and private partners to assure optimal communication and collaboration for racial, ethnic, and linguistic minorities. The Director will build on the initial work of the OEO office to convene community partners to improve coordination, communication and collaboration in economic, civic, and cultural inclusion.

COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST (CHOW)
The City of Portland’s Minority Health Program is searching for three full-time Community Health Promotion Specialists/CHOW - These are project positions that will positively impact the health status of Portland’s non-English speaking immigrant and refugee populations. These exciting positions will allow you to help community members access health and social support. These positions will provide interpreter, translation and cultural brokering services as well as community outreach. This work involves working on various initiatives and projects in collaboration with community partners. THERAPEUTIC RECREATION SUPERVISOR
This position performs professional inclusive and therapeutic recreation work at a supervisory level in the development and direction of a variety of recreation activities at community centers, schools, parks, athletic and aquatic facilities. This position involves on-going communication with the public, school staff, community groups and other recreation professionals in the creation, planning and adaptation of inclusive and therapeutic recreation programs. This position may have interactions with non-program staff such as teachers, school aides, case managers and Behavior Health Professionals (BHPs) that require oversight during programs/activities, as well as supervise permanent and non-permanent recreation and aquatic staff. Must have experience developing therapeutic and inclusive training programs for recreation and aquatic staff, as well as counseling and instructing personnel in proper techniques and methods. Farm Assistant - Cultivating Community
Join Cultivating Community’s farm team as a staff member at the Hurricane Valley Farm (HVF) in Falmouth, Maine and the Packard-Littlefield Farm (PLF) in Lisbon, Maine. Our farms’ programming primarily serves new immigrants of African descent and includes over 40 community garden plots, 9 production fields leased by current participants in and recent graduates of our farmer training program, a seedling greenhouse, infrastructure for launching the 2023 goat and sheep meat program, meat birds, beehives, and perennial gardens. This role will help maintain the two farms as productive and welcoming community spaces. The Farm Assistant is a 32-40 hour per week position starting in May and ending November 15th with the potential for this position to become a year round position. Welcoming Communities Coordinator - Welcoming America
The Welcoming Communities Coordinator plays a critical role in executing Welcoming America's member and participant-facing programming and developing and distributing member and participant-facing content. Welcoming Communities Coordinator will act as a primary point of contact for participants in Welcoming America programs – coordinating meetings, answering questions, and supporting the project leads. This position will also develop and distribute weekly and monthly content to members and partners with support from other programmatic staff. Compensation: $40,000 annual salary. State Refugee Health Coordinator - Catholic Charities
The State Refugee Health Coordinator (SRHC) provides health expertise and complements the responsibilities of the State Refugee Coordinator (SRC). The SRHC ensures a holistic approach to refugee health services, including oversight of four core areas. First, the SRHC provides updated and inclusive information to resettlement agencies (RA’s) and medical providers for initial medical screening, labs, and consultations. Second, the SRHC facilitates ongoing health care for new arrivals through healthcare orientations, workshops, and educational materials, as well as by working with medical providers to set up PCP’s, maternal care, pediatricians, etc. for all ORR-eligible populations. Third, the SRHC works with RA’s to provide health education through presentations, pamphlets, and consultations. This also includes the growing implementation of mental health care for any ORR-eligible arrival who tests positive for trauma or other mental health conditions. Finally, the SRHC builds partnerships and outreach throughout the medical community across the state to provide equitable and accessible health care for all refugees.
